One of the consequences of these changes was the dilemma for Gazprom – where to go with the unclaimed gas following its gas supplies cut off to several European countries and supplies to other customers have been severely curtailed? And the forecast was right – they decided to burn gas in the atmosphere, harming the environment and the planet 🌍
In June 2022 a huge flare was detected burning near the Portovaya compressor station on the Russian-Finnish border. Flaring means the controlled and deliberate destruction of natural gas 🔥🧯
This brings us back to the widely discussed topic of ESG. Back in 2020, Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, the world's largest investment company, identified ESG as a key driver of long-term investment prospects.
